ClipMark Layer is designed to help users save and organize content from webpages. Protecting user privacy is a core design principle of the extension.
Information We Process
When you use ClipMark Layer, the extension processes only the content that you explicitly choose to save, such as:
- Selected text
- Images
- Links and URLs
- Page titles
- Notes and tags that you create
- Highlight information required to restore saved highlights
This information is processed solely to provide the extension’s functionality.
Local Storage
All saved clips, notes, tags, highlights, and extension settings are stored locally on your device using Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API.
ClipMark Layer does not use cloud storage or synchronize your data with external services.
Data Collection and Sharing
ClipMark Layer does not:
- collect personal information for the developer
- transmit your saved content to external servers
- use analytics or telemetry services
- sell or share user data with third parties
- use your data for advertising or marketing
- use your data for profiling or tracking
The developer cannot access the information you save because it remains on your device.
Permissions
The extension requests only the permissions necessary to provide its functionality:
- storage – Store clips, notes, highlights, and settings locally.
- sidePanel – Display the extension interface in Chrome’s Side Panel.
- contextMenus – Allow saving selected text or images using the right-click menu.
- tabs – Associate saved clips with the active webpage and manage extension interface behavior.
- Host permissions (
<all_urls>) – Enable the extension to detect user-selected content, display the clipping toolbar, capture selected text and images, and restore saved highlights on supported webpages. Content is processed locally within your browser.
Website Content
ClipMark Layer processes webpage content only when required to provide the features you request, such as saving selected text or images and restoring your previously saved highlights. This content remains on your device unless you choose to export it.
Exported Data
The extension allows you to export your saved clips in formats such as JSON, Markdown, or HTML. Exported files are created locally on your device and are managed by you.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
