Browser Whiteboard (“the Extension”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension processes, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Overview

Browser Whiteboard is a Chrome extension that allows users to capture webpages, selected text, images, links, and screen regions onto a local infinite whiteboard for research, brainstorming, note-taking, and visual organization.

The Extension is designed with a privacy-first, local-only approach.

  • No account is required.
  • No registration is required.
  • No cloud synchronization is required.
  • No developer server is used for the Extension’s core functionality.

2. Information Processed

The Extension processes only the information necessary to provide its features when you explicitly use them.

Depending on the actions you perform, the Extension may process:

  • Current webpage URL
  • Webpage title
  • Website favicon
  • Selected text
  • Images that you choose to capture
  • Visible webpage screenshots
  • User-created notes and drawings
  • Board layouts and annotations

The Extension only processes this information after you initiate an action such as:

  • Clicking the extension
  • Using a keyboard shortcut
  • Selecting a context menu option
  • Opening the whiteboard

The Extension does not automatically collect webpage content.

3. Local Storage

All captured content and whiteboard data are stored locally on your device using your browser’s IndexedDB storage.

This includes:

  • Whiteboards
  • Screenshots
  • Notes
  • Drawings
  • Shapes
  • Images
  • Connectors
  • Export settings

Your data remains under your control.

4. No Data Collection by the Developer

Browser Whiteboard does not collect, transmit, upload, or store your captured content on developer-operated servers.

The developer does not receive:

  • Your whiteboards
  • Your notes
  • Your screenshots
  • Your browsing data
  • Your captured webpage content

5. Permissions

The Extension requests only the permissions required to provide its functionality.

activeTab

Used to capture information from the currently active webpage after you explicitly invoke the Extension.

contextMenus

Adds right-click menu options for clipping webpages, selected text, images, links, and screen regions.

tabs

Used to obtain webpage title, URL, and favicon for captured cards and to reopen saved webpages.

unlimitedStorage

Allows the Extension to store large research boards and media locally without Chrome’s default storage limitations.

Host Permissions

Used only to capture content from webpages that you explicitly choose to clip. These permissions are not used for background monitoring or automated data collection.

6. No Tracking

Browser Whiteboard does not use:

  • Advertising identifiers
  • Analytics services
  • Tracking pixels
  • User profiling
  • Behavioral advertising

The Extension does not monitor your browsing activity.

7. No Sale or Sharing of Data

The developer does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.

Your information is not used for advertising, marketing, or profiling.

8. Third-Party Services

The Extension’s core functionality does not rely on third-party servers or cloud services.

If future optional features introduce cloud synchronization or external integrations, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features become available.

9. Children’s Privacy

Browser Whiteboard is not directed toward children under the age of 13. The Extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in functionality or legal requirements.
